Painting do's & don'ts

Painting do's & don'ts

Here are some essential do's and don'ts to keep in mind as a beginner artist:

✅ Do's:

Experiment & Explore
Play around! Try different styles, wild colours, and quirky techniques. You never know what might unlock your inner Picasso.

Steal Like an Artist
See something you love? Take inspo. Study techniques, borrow ideas, and mash them into your own vibe. That’s how you find your voice.

Practice Makes Painty
Dedicate a little time each week to splash colour on a canvas. The more you paint, the more fun it gets. Promise.

Embrace the Oops
Smudged your line? Splashed your drink? Made your tree look like a lollipop? Good! Mistakes = magic. They often make your piece more “you.”

Don'ts:

Rush the Canvas
Sip slow, paint slower. Rushing = frustration. Relax and let the brush do its thing.

Compare Yourself
This is YOUR canvas, YOUR night, YOUR vibe. Don’t measure yourself against anyone else especially that one friend who swears they “can’t draw a stick figure” but ends up painting the Mona Lisa.

Skip the Basics
Colour theory, composition, perspective they’re the cheat codes of painting. Learn the rules so you can break ‘em in style.

Overload the Canvas
Keep it simple, babe. Don’t try to squeeze the entire galaxy, your pet dog, and a bowl of fruit all in one go. Start small, build up.

Forget to Clean Your Brush
Trust us red wine pink + leafy green does NOT make a masterpiece. Clean your brush often and your colours (and your sanity) will thank you.

We believe art isn’t about perfection, it’s about having fun, sipping something tasty, and letting your creativity flow.

By following these tips, you'll set yourself up for a rewarding and enjoyable painting experience. Remember, every brushstroke is a step toward improving your skills and expressing your creativity!
